“The Art of Textile Weaving “

Train the Trainers Programme

This exhibition showcases artworks created by students as part of an educational program led by AlSadu Society, emphasizing the preservation of traditional manual weaving skills and their associated values of dexterity and dedication as essential components of cultural heritage and identity. Tailored specifically for Ministry of Education schools, this program features a curriculum meticulously developed by the AlSadu Society team. Specialized training workshops were conducted for the Department of Arts Education, where teachers were instructed on the process, structure, and techniques of Sadu weaving within its historical and cultural contexts.

As a result of this initiative, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recognized and included the “File for Good Safeguarding Practices of ICH” submitted by the State of Kuwait, represented by AlSadu Society, in the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2021. This milestone marked the first Arab file of “good safeguarding practices” and the initial national file for Kuwait, highlighting the significance of Sadu weaving in preserving cultural heritage.

We are thrilled and proud to share the following with you. By clicking the links below, you can view photos and see the names of students and teachers who participated in the AlSadu Educational Initiative, organized by district.
