Insij Workshops
These courses target those interested in arts and handicrafts in general and those interested in traditional weaving methods in particular, offered to people aged 18 years and over
The courses are divided into 5 levels as follows:
:Level (One)
Learning Flat Weave
Learning Dhalla Pattern
After completion of the course the student will be able to do the following:
· Warping: stretching the yarn for the specific pattern.
· Preparing the loom and attaching the heddles.
· Weave the flat weave and the Dhalla pattern.
· Produce two woven pieces with the mentioned patterns.
Level (Two)*:
Hubub pattern
Aein pattern
After completion of the course the student will be able to do the following:
· Warping: stretching the yarn for the specific pattern.
· Preparing the loom and attaching the heddles.
· Weave the Hubub pattern and the Aein pattern.
· Produce two woven pieces with the mentioned patterns
Requirements: Completing Level 1
:*Level (Three
Dhurus El-Khail pattern
Ragoum technique and pattern
After completion of the course the student will be able to do the following:
· Warping: stretching the yarn for the specific pattern.
· Preparing the loom and attaching the heddles.
· Weave the Dhurus El-Khail pattern and the Ragoum pattern.
· Produce two woven pieces with the mentioned patterns.
Requirements: Completing Level 2
:*Level (Four)
Midhkhar pattern
Uwairjan pattern
After completion of the course the student will be able to do the following:
· Warping: stretching the yarn for the specific pattern.
· Preparing the loom and attaching the heddles.
· Weave the Midkhar and the Uwairjan pattern.
· Produce two woven pieces with the mentioned patterns.
Requirements: Completing Level 3
Level (Five)*:
Shajarah pattern
After completion of the course the student will be able to do the following:
· Warping: stretching the yarn for the specific pattern.
· Preparing the loom and attaching the heddles.
· Weave the Shajarah pattern.
· Produce one woven piece with the Shajarah patterns.
Requirements: Completing Level 4
Location:
The courses are held in person at Sadu House.
Number of students for each group: 12 students
Diwaniya of weavers:
On the sidelines of the INSIJ program, a monthly diwaniya will be held in the presence of at least two female weavers. All female members of the previous and current INSIJ courses are allowed to attend the diwaniya for free
in order to review their skills, display and share their production of Sadu pieces and exchange ideas among those interested in this craft.
