Hanan AlKazemi has been a bright presence in our community as a dedicated member of the Kuwait Textile Art Association (KTAA) since 2009. She has paved the way for forthcoming endeavors and illuminated a creative path to the future – leading quilt workshops, coordinating student work exhibitions, and serving as an AlSadu Society liaison, among many other vital roles.

Notably, Hanan’s impact on the community shines through as she was part of the team that spearheaded the Educational Programme: Train the Trainers in The Art of Weaving initiative, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, since 2016. This transformative program seeks to safeguard the national intangible cultural heritage of Sadu weaving by offering weaving classes to public middle schools. Her active role included coordinating meetings  and connecting weavers, ministry officials, and teachers together to achieve this goal. This project continues to preserve the rich cultural heritage of Sadu weaving in schools today.

Reflecting on the culmination of this major success coming together, as Hanan recalls the exciting experience of celebrating the official signing of the formal agreement with the Ministry of Education at Al-Hamra Tower. She reflects on her work and contributions, by noting that she “does her work with love” for the community. Her unwavering dedication has left an indelible legacy, preserving Kuwait’s cultural traditions and inspiring others to embrace the beauty and creativity of Sadu weaving.
