Celebration exhibition of the 30 years anniversary on the founding of the AlSadu Society
To commemorate its 30th anniversary, the AlSadu Society organized a trilogy of exhibitions, each highlighting different aspects of Kuwaiti cultural heritage through creative and innovative interpretations of traditional Sadu weaving. These exhibitions celebrated three decades of the society’s efforts in preserving and promoting Kuwaiti textile arts. Thus highlighting the importance of Sadu weaving and its relevance in contemporary design while encouraging modern interpretations of traditional crafts, showcasing how heritage can inspire new creative endeavors. Bringing together designers, artists, and the public to celebrate and engage with Kuwaiti cultural heritage.

‘The AlSadu Society was established in 1991 as a weaving craft cooperative, concerned with safeguarding Kuwait’s textile heritage, its related craftsmanship as well as honoring the fine skills and manual dexterity of the women weavers that carried it forward from generation to generations over the years.
This special 30th anniversary celebrates the thirty years of Al Sadu Society’s work in preserving these traditions and transferring them towards new contemporary horizons, that have enriched the cultural identity and contemporary creative expression.
Thirty years of documenting the techniques and artistic skills and their transmission through serious instruction and educational programs to young students and future generations.
Thirty years of encouraging youth to crafts and innovation in the field of weaving and weaving traditions.
Thirty years in highlighting Kuwaiti cultural heritage and spreading the awareness of it locally, regionally and globally. In 2020, the art of Sadu was selected on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.’

ALZAY Creative Fashion Exhibition
This exhibition showcased the work of 14 Kuwaiti fashion designers, each producing unique pieces inspired by AlSadu weaving. The designs reflected the rich meanings and colors of traditional Sadu, interpreted through contemporary fashion.

ALHULI Creative Jewelry Exhibition
Featuring the creations of 7 Kuwaiti jewelry designers, this exhibition highlighted how traditional Sadu motifs can be incorporated into modern jewelry design. Each piece was distinctive, showcasing the interplay of traditional craft and contemporary design.

MAKERS Creative Furniture Design Exhibition
The exhibition displayed the work of 10 Kuwaiti furniture designers who created pieces inspired by AlSadu. These designs reflected the traditional meanings and colors of Sadu while incorporating contemporary elements to produce unique furniture pieces.
