Norah Al-Ali

Having practiced the art of quilting for over eleven years, Nora, an outstanding member of Sadu Society, has transformed her passion into becoming a certified trainer, earning her teaching certification from South Africa. Now, as a devoted teacher and long-time member of the Kuwait Textile Art Association (KTAA), she shares her love for quilting with our vibrant community, one stitch at a time.

Nora’s active and dedicated involvement in the KTAA is just one thread in the rich tapestry of her contributions to our wider community. She played a pivotal role in two significant projects, reaching out to generous donors and contributing to the “AlDhefra” book. In this heartfelt endeavor, she interviewed donors, crafting thoughtful “thank you” tributes that honor the donors and the cherished pieces they donated. Today, these gorgeous sadu pieces reside at Sadu House, where they will be appreciated and admired for generations to come.

Additionally, Norah participated in the making of the “AlDhefra” book, a tribute to the weavers of Kuwait. She helped document and preserve the personal stories, ensuring that their legacies remain vibrant and alive.

Reflecting on her experiences with both projects, Nora shares that the most rewarding part was being “part of something that will keep on going for many, many years.” She feels honored to have contributed to making this vital information accessible to the public and to “encourage more young people to continue the tradition of sadu weaving and innovating in particular,” safeguarding the future of this cultural heritage.
